Clouds over Dzibichaltun

It was the time when Internet appeared in our daily life, when we started to discover that through the web we could find information for our homework. It was the time when I searched for pictures of my favorite artists (The Beatles) and cartoons (The Simpsons). It was when having internet at home was expensive and one had to go to rent a computer for $20 pesos per hour to chat using mIRC and found the “information” mentioned above.

One of those days, by the middle of the 90’s, I found a set of philosophical phrases to face the day by day of our modern life. I printed it, and pastes it at the back of my room’s door.
Now twelve years later, I want to recover those simple but remarkable phrases which indeed changed and formed my mind. Here we go…

13) When someone asks you something that you don’t want to answer, smile and say “Why do you want to know that?”
14) Remember that success or a great love, implies risks and sacrifices
15) Say “Pleasure” when you hear someone sneeze (Or “salud” in Spanish)
16) When you loose, don’t loose what you learned
17) Remeber the three “R’s”: Respect yourself, Respect the other ones and Responsibility of your actions

Just for living

Filed under: Personal — Enrique @ 12:15 am

Well, many things to share with you, I’ll try to be clear and not get you dizzy with my thoughts.
I’m so happy because today (hehe sounds like Nirvana’s Lithium) I got the results of the TOEFL I took on January, and my total score was 603 points, fifty three more than the ones needed to accomplish the masters’ degree english proficiency in Sweden. I’ll tell you a little bit more about the advantages of studying in Sweden, in some following post.

By now I would like to invite you to visit Zenhabits.net which is a blog-like website where you find useful information to help you drive your life with sannity and inner balance.
In particular, I found valuably to take a smooth reading to 12 Practical Steps for Learning to Go With the Flow. I think sometimes we forget to understand that we are part of some other systems or elements (world, family, friends’ circle, labour network and so on…), and that there are things that we just can’t manage by our own.

Another anecdote just for living, is one I extract from a BBC survey titled “What to do before dying?”. I’m gonna share with you the top 20, of the list:

    Swim with dolphins
Diving in “Great Barrier of Chorale” (Queensland, Australia)
    Flying in Concorde
    Watch wales
    Diving with sharks
    Skydiving
    Flying in aerostatic ballon
    Flying in a jet
    Have a safari trip
To watch boreal lights (I think is northen Canada)
    To visit Inca’s ruins
Walking through the Bay’s Bridge at Sydney
To visit a fantasy island, like Jamaica
    To drive a F1 car
    To do rafting
    Bungee jumping
Walking through the Great Wall in China
Traveling by train through the Canadian Rockies.
Driving the 66 Route in Arizona, USA
Hiking by the Great Canyon in Arizona

If you decide to do some of the one mentioned above, please leave a comment to this post; and if not decided yet, anyway leave a comment. ;)

2007: Enrique’s memories

Filed under: Personal — Enrique @ 9:09 pm

The 2007 had left many good things and some other not so good.

January
I started the first month doing the necessary adjustments to get up the facilities for my marketing company called “Divergente”. I also worked at the “Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo (IMP)” where I started to work on a project to unify the graphic identity of them.

February
This month was dedicated to organising and to preparing the sales and marketing strategy for “Divergente”. At Ciudad del Carmen, they celebrate “el carnaval (the carnival)” where you can see creativity and extroversion in the popular dances which reflect the town’s beliefs. Also I am happy to report that I met the members of a mexican pop-rock band called “Volován” during those celebrations.
