Anthem For The Damned: Filter’s return

While updating my resumé, iTunes shuffle-play-mode brought me back to memory a superb music band: Filter.
By now I found myself enjoying the second Filter’s album named “Title Of Record”, and I decided to look for something about Filter. As you know Wikipedia and Google does the half of this job.
I started to read the Filter’s article in Wikipedia, and I found that Richard Patrick (Filter’s vocalist and front-man) previously worked with Trent Reznor in Nine Inch Nails which is not quite surprising because of the industrial rock sound that has Filter’s music.
“Title Of Record” is one of my favorites albums. I tell you this because I put three stars in a song which makes me feel energized, vigorous, happy and self-motivated. This album such as Nirvana’s “Nevermind” is one of those I can completly hear from the beggining to the last second. By the way, two stars are given to song which is quiet, soft but energized.

About the up-comming album, Wikipedia says:
After a 5-year hiatus, Richard Patrick has announced Filter will be releasing a new record in 2008, entitled Anthems for the Damned. Collaborators on the record include Josh Freese (A Perfect Circle, Nine Inch Nails), Wes Borland (Black Light Burns, Limp Bizkit), and John 5 (Marilyn Manson, Rob Zombie). According to an interview with Richard Patrick on MTV.com, the record could be released as soon as March 2008.
I have to admit that Filter was not present at my memory, though in Mexico they haven’t got awareness in magazines and tv. But that is the rule (once again comfirmed): do not wait for the mass media to find something interesting.

Filter is great band. I remember listening to “It’s Gonna Kill Me” on the very beginning at the movie “3000 Miles to Graceland” which is one of my favorites, and I instantly fall in love with that band. Like you said, it has some great industrial rock sound, but poppier in my opinion, which makes them very good to listen. Also “The Best Things” was a very cool song and “Take A Picture” was rip-off by Telcel on his famous “Telcel song”. It’s great to read that they’re making a new album.
