2007: Enrique’s memories

Filed under: Personal — Enrique @ 9:09 pm

The 2007 had left many good things and some other not so good.

January
I started the first month doing the necessary adjustments to get up the facilities for my marketing company called “Divergente”. I also worked at the “Instituto Mexicano del Petróleo (IMP)” where I started to work on a project to unify the graphic identity of them.

February
This month was dedicated to organising and to preparing the sales and marketing strategy for “Divergente”. At Ciudad del Carmen, they celebrate “el carnaval (the carnival)” where you can see creativity and extroversion in the popular dances which reflect the town’s beliefs. Also I am happy to report that I met the members of a mexican pop-rock band called “Volován” during those celebrations.

March
The firsts commercial contacts for “Divergente” were made in March.
Roger Waters @ Mexico City: March 6th.
In addition, I will never forget the 6th of March, the day I saw Roger Waters in person playing his and Pink Floyd’s songs live at “Foro Sol” in Mexico City. During the concert, Roger floated above our heads an enormous pig-ballon that had a message that made us feel strong and confidence about the negative effects that could generate a Berlin-like Wall at the US-Mexico border: Cerdo Bush, derriba el muro de la frontera (Pig Bush, tear down the border wall).

April
Usually I don’t like the first semester of the year. Not too much to say for this month. At Divergente we continued looking for clients. Cesar Pacheco joined Divergente’s team to support clients for graphic design needs.

May
The searching for prospective customers for Divergente was intense. We also launched Divergente’s website.

June
At the end of June, I found myself leaving my job at the IMP. It was the time to do it. It is a great and invaluable institution, but lacks of administrative speed to innovate. I decided to bet for spending all of my time to make grow Divergente (which was started on November, 2006). Have to say that I meet incredible persons at the IMP.

July
On July, Divergente (thus I) was dedicated to construct the core brand and values of TacoKay. We also did a market research for an independent “carmelita” entrepeneur who wanted to buy a franchise of automatized video rental.

August
During August, we developed the brand strategy for TacoKay’s second year in the market. This month is remarkable because a friend and I started to plan the re-launching of EstudioManifesto.com, which was previously named (2006) ManifestoRock, an online radio.

September
I will never forget this month. Actually is my birthday’s month. But this time was not as great as past years. On September 18, “Kurt” died. Kurt was a beautiful, friendly, lovely dog with which I spent all of my university days. Don’t you know how I miss him. By the other hand, I meet Erika who is now considered as one of my friendly jewels.

October
During October, Divergente did a corporate decoration and web solution for “Arcos” banquets. I attended the “Publivoros” show at Ciudad del Carmen, which is an exhibition of the world’s best tv-commercials.

November
This was the time to indefinitely stop the activites of Divergente. Why if it was growing and gaining market? Simply, Ciudad del Carmen it is not the place to think in being competitive and innovative. As a result, I started to get informed about the requirements to study abroad a masters degree.

December
I came back to Merida, in order to get prepared for the TOEFL test. At the free time, I started to support and assist some colleagues at “Espacio En Blanco (EEB)”, which is a Public Relations agency. I spent the decembrists holidays enjoying my family.
